Why Fans Will Love The Star Wars Trilogy Blu Ray

Science fiction movie fans can now get the Star Wars Trilogy Blu Ray set and they will not be disappointed with the product. I can remember well seeing the special edition films in 1997 and being impressed with the high resolution images playing out on the big
screen in front of me. Now Star Wars fans can experience the same visual delight from the comfort of their own home theaters. The
new format, introduced in September 2011, delivers everything viewers want from quality sound to breathtaking visuals and special effects. Even the controversial added scenes are included in this ultimate movie set.
The set features special edition versions of all three movies. These versions allowed George Lucas the opportunity to update some of the special effects with modern technology that was not available back in the late 20th century when he filmed the original versions. Some of the more controversial changes include scene edits and additions by Lucas that irk some of the purists who are resistant to change. One involves the encounter between Greedo and Han Solo inside the Mos Eisly Cantina. Han Solo shot first in the 1977 original and killed his enemy. When Lucas redid the scene in 1997, the alien attacks first and Han kills him in self-defense. Fans around the world believe the first version was more true to Han’s personality, which would have compelled him to shoot first. Personally, I enjoyed one particular scene portraying the Millennium Falcon’s departure from Mos Eisly. The escape scene was exciting and well executed.
Even people who already own the DVD set will want to have the Star Wars Trilogy Blu Ray discs for their collection. The DVD images are not as clear and crisp as the ones seen on the high-resolution Blu Ray discs. Part of this clarity comes from the fact that a disc has a much higher capacity for storage with 50 MB. A DVD can store only 8 MB of data. With the additional storage space, the disc is capable of handling sound and images with higher quality. Some of the additional storage space contains additional video footage, documentary films and a collection of entertaining outtakes. Some people may consider the format to be a disadvantage if they do not own the proper equipment. Blu Ray players are relatively new to the marketplace and the earliest models were expensive. Like DVD players before them, Blu Ray players are evolving with new technology and the prices are now affordable for average consumers.
I would recommend this Star Wars Trilogy Blu Ray disc set for anyone who is a die-hard fan of the movie series. The disc takes the sound and image quality to a level the DVD just cannot duplicate. Most viewers will be impressed with what they see and hear and most fans agree purchasing the set is a worthwhile investment for any collector. Anyone who has a plush home theater with all the bells and whistles will enjoy a viewing experience rivaled only by the most luxurious movie theaters.
